Hello everyone!
I hope you've been enjoying the nice spring weather we've been having, although it looks like it will be back to rain for a bit. I have updated this site so that the class log ins are no longer part of it, and instead are posted in a Google doc on Google Classroom, which you can click the link from here. Google Classroom is private, but this website is public, so I've realized it makes more sense not to have them up here! But in other news, our first read aloud we did in class this year was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. We had a lot of fun with it (I personally love Harry Potter!). The Wizarding World is a website collection for Harry Potter fans, and they've recently added resources for students stuck at home. They have various articles, quizzes, online crosswords, and some how to drawings of mythical creatures. If you want to make an account (they're free), it will sort your student into a Hogwarts house, and they can select a wand. I know not everyone in class loved Harry Potter, so they may want to skip this site, but there are a lot of fans in our class too! https://www.wizardingworld.com/collections/harry-potter-at-home Stay healthy everyone, and keep in touch!

Hello families of Mrs. Handy's 3rd Grade!
As it seems we are moving more towards remote or online learning, I thought I would create a class site. This way, all resources I find, activities I think of, and questions or ideas you all have can be in one place! I have never created a website (or a blog) before, so be patient with me as I figure it all out. I thought having the page as a blog would be a good idea, because that way students and parents can comment right on the page! I do have a Google Classroom site as well, the link to access that site is: https://classroom.google.com/u/1/c/NDQzNjk4MDc4MTJa. That page was set up by Mr. Bard, and all of our students are already linked to it through their school accounts. I think that is a good site for assignments and a place for students to post work, but not as a hub for all the information we're gathering about distance learning. I plan on using the different pages here to update online resources, activity ideas, and any other information we get from the state or district as it comes. I hope you are all healthy and happy, and finding ways to stay busy! I want to stress that this is a strange and uncertain time, and we are not expecting students to be working for hours at home. Anything I post is just an idea or a suggestion, if you are looking for ways to pass the time or want to include more academics at home! |
